Well, its been a long, annoying 2010 after grappling with the mess of unemployment and freelancing. Mostly because unemployment is never enough and you’re never really sure what to do, eat or pay your mortgage. Unfortunately, most of my time I spent paying my mortgage. Only by the graces of my old clients and my girlfriend did I make it through without severe mental or physical damage. Emotional, well, that’s a different story, but is definitely not for public consumption.

Luckily, a good friend was able to help me get a spot at Harry Fox Agency, the publishing rights company. I’m looking forward to paying the dues I never wanted to out of college. By no means is this a position that fits my experience, I’m well beyond this in my career path of IT, Wall Street, and simply endless project work. However, I don’t have the proof as I’ve been so technical so long to leap back into the music industry with clout and connections. So, as of Monday, I get my hands dirty dirty. It’ll be good, like when Peter gets a job in construction after dealing with his boss, Lumbergh. It may not be heaven, but at least its not hell. Not that IT is hell, but working under idiot bosses is. Fa sho.

I’ve begun working again in IT for my new friend, Brice Buronfosse. He’s a professional IT consultant whom I met working at DNA Modeling doing a multi-room stereo installation. I’ve been heading around town for a few clients.

Welcome to the new revision of Square Wave, personal consulting company for me, Peter Fedak. Originally, I began this company as an IT consulting company. When I started doing work training a teenager in iMovie and HTML some 10 years ago, I realized I needed a professional image for my professional work. However, after 3 years of fulltime work as an IT support admin, then a Manager, I burned out. Being laid off couldn’t have come at a better time. And even though I learned a lot during that time, I yearned to return to my music and music business roots.

So here is Square Wave 2.0, the basis for my new career path. I’m incorporating what I learned doing technical jobs with my creative side and able to float between the two extremes. My latest endeavor is helping bands gain an online presence, be knowledgeable in the new music industry landscape, and navigate those avenues.
